Fire
“Fire” - Pastor Rusty - April 28, 2023
“And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odors, which are the prayers of saints” Rev. 5:8
I’ve written on this subject in the past, but for the life of me I couldn’t find any such article in my archives. So here we go again.🤔 The passage above describes an activity in heaven that is being performed by the twenty-four elders in heaven. They are worshiping the Lamb that was slain while holding harps and golden bowls of incense. The harps represent the releasing of sound and music in worship and the bowls represent the prayers of the saints. This is where the “Harp and Bowl” ministry comes from, where you combine worship and intercession. When you throw in the prophetic with this process you get a “three stranded cord” that that looks like a strand of DNA binds heaven to earth in an atmosphere of heaven.
The word that is translated “odors” in the above verse is tricky to translate from the Greek. It is translated incense, fragrance, and odors in various translations. This is taken from the Greek word “thymíama” which implies “smoke.” The word thymiama, describes the activity taking place in the bowl more than the ingredients themselves. It is incense mingled with fire. If you wonder what’s missing in your prayer life (or the absence thereof) it is fire. According to rabbinical teaching the fire for the incense could only come from one place. The fire in court at the altar of holocaust, The brazen alter of sacrifice. What is absent in most believers prayer life is the consuming fire that can only come from the altar of a life laid in complete sacrifice to Christ. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” Rom. 12:1.
