“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:” 2 Pet. 1:3
According to this passage of scripture everything pertaining to life and godliness has been given unto us through the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Some newer translations read that “everything necessary for life and godliness has been given unto us through the richness of the knowledge” of Jesus. They say the word “necessary” does not appear in the Greek manuscript, but it is implied🤔. What that sounds like is that He’s given us enough to conduct a godly life… But what I’m seeing in the Spirit is that He has given us abundantly more than what is necessary for life and godliness. He has given us access to the wealth of heaven not simply what is “required”. We have access to so much more than the “bare minimal”. We act like the rich ruler who asked Jesus, “What shall I do to inherit eternal life?” (Luke 18:18) It seems we are simply leaning to, what’s the bare minimal I must do to get to heaven? 🤔 And then we treat it like it’s some task to be performed? He has given us access to the wealth of heaven. A sea of abundance to be swam in! Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God! Come out of the shadows into the SONLIGHT and taste and see that the Lord is good!
