Authority

The people there were amazed by his teaching, because he taught them like one who had authority, not like the experts of the law." Mark 1:22

Once again we see a contrast between the anointing and theologians. Jesus demonstrated the kingdom of God was at hand while the "experts" explained theology. Think about your own Christian

experience and consider how many times you traveled a great length to see the kingdom of God demonstrated compared to how many times you couldn't get off the couch to hear an "expert in the law". It is because Christ has effected your taste buds. Once you've experienced "new wine" it's hard to go back to stagnate water. And if you've not experienced "new wine" you have no contrast.

Be careful for the kingdom of God is hazardous to your religious depression. The power of the Holy Spirit will make the word of God come alive to you.

"For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power." I Cor. 4:20
