“Daddy’s Girl”

It’s like Christmas when God opens up a new level of functioning and knowledge of the Kingdom. I have noticed that as I pursue Him that He likes to be caught.

When we met and started dating Rusty had just turned 20 and I had just turned 19. My dad was rather strict when it came to his daughters. I knew he would want full knowledge of Rusty. Where he went to church, who his family was, was he filled with the Holy Ghost, was he pursuing God. So knowing my dad like I did I decided to “butter” him up before I ever asked if I could go out with this guy.

I had been dad’s tomboy. Together we put motors in cars and we took them out. When I was 5 yrs old I would go to work with my dad just to be with him. We had a good relationship.

I knew my dad had been looking at Norelco razors. I went out and bought him one. I then gave it to him and he was excited. After the excitement settled down I then asked my question, could I go out with this guy named Rusty. Well having just pleased him he couldn’t hardly say “no”. So that night my dad traded his daughter for a Norelco razor, or so it seemed. Rusty and I have never been apart from that night on. The most we have been apart in 38 years was two weeks when he was on a missions trip.

Anyway I have always dealt with God the same way I did my earthly dad. When I am wanting to have God’s attention I will set aside some time to just worship Him. Not asking for anything, just time telling Him what a wonderful God He is. Some may say you shouldn’t behave in that manner but my response would be “ have you ever been a daddy’s girl?” You can obtain favor from your Heavenly Father. You can make yourself one of the apples of His eye! Why would you not want to walk in His favor?

You don’t have to believe or care about any of the advice I am giving. That’s just up to you. But if you want to walk with favor and a closeness to God listen to this nugget I am giving you. God likes to be pursued.

Talk to Him about everything that has to do with you. You will be surprised at how approachable he is.

Learn to pursue Him. And watch where it takes you!
