Glory

Daily Word - Dec 7, 2018

"And the LORD passed by before Him, and proclaimed, "The LORD, The LORD GOD, gracious and compassionate, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth," Exo. 34:6,

This is Moses's cleft of the rock encounter. God Yehova is passing before him and He begins by declaring His name (again) to Moses. He declares Himself to be Yehova (self existent) to Moses. This is significant on more levels than I can possibly explain, but I find it interesting that many did not know the Yehova not only caused His glory to pass by Moses be He declared his name and character as He passed by. If there was such a thing as “red letter" Old Testament, this would be red letter, as God declares who He is in first person.

The name of God was considered unpronounceable by the Hebrew people, therefore they come up with a way to reference God without misspronouncing His "unpronounceable name." It appears they combined the consonants from the word Yahweh and the vowels from the word adonai to create the composite Yehova (Jehova).

As the LORD God, passed before Moses He also declared His character. This is significant because the first thing God says about Himself is that the LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, and that He is good.

I declare indeed you are good, gracious, compassionate, slow to anger, and always truthful. I love you LORD, you are the King of my Heart!
