“Know Your god”

It seems as though we chase things which bring comfort to our lives, better cars, bigger house, newer phones, etc. It is our human nature to desire the betterment of our lives. It is woven into our DNA. I believe it is written in our DNA by God for us to reach and to strive for better things. When God created the garden of eden we see that He placed into Adam a need to “tend the garden”. The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. Gen. 2:15

I can remember my grandfather saying “oh they are so lazy they wouldn’t holler Suey if the hogs we eatin’ them!” Referring to laziness. He had another saying, “it’s no shame being poor, it is a shame to be dirty, soap is cheap!” God intended from the very beginning with Adam that man would work. Until the fall (the apple eating incident) man worked with out the hardness of labor, no sweat. When man fell God removed them (Adam & Eve) from the garden and placed this upon them; “By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return." Gen. 3:19.

Just like the desire to prosper in physical things we should desire to prosper in spiritual things. Before the fall man worked harvesting the goodness of the garden without sweat. He walked with God in the cool of the evening. No sweat! Now we labor to harvest the goodness of the earth and we have to learn to know God by seeking Him.

As we strive to prosper let us also strive to know Him, God in the cool of the day. Some may say we don’t have to strive to “know Him” Jesus gave us everything we need. I must ask them about New Testament scripture, Matt 7:7-8 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Jesus gave you the right to pursue all things God & heaven. You will have to pursue God to know Him and His Kingdom. The journey you experience to “know” Him will be one of the most exciting and beautiful experiences you will ever encounter. You are a spiritual being having an earthly encounter for 80+- years. Get to know your spiritual side, you will be a spiritual being for eternity. Invest in your spirit man, get to know your God.
