Looking for a city
Daily Word - Feb. 5th, 2019
"By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: For he looked for a city with
foundations, whose builder and maker is God." Heb. 11:9-10
Being persuaded of something more. Abraham was convinced that something existed the he could have only known about in a dream or a vision or by the Spirit. He was convinced there was a
city whose builder and maker was God. He had no earthly model or grid for such a place but he knew one existed in God. We too have the same persuasion, that there is a church that continually host God's presence. That there is a house of God's presence that
is yet to be revealed. We are convinced that what presently is, is not God's ultimate design, and there is a house whose builder and maker is God.
It is this yearning that caused David to say , "better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere, I would rather be a door keeper in the house of my God, that to dwell in the
tents of wickedness." I would rather have the lowest position where his presence is, than a leadership position where his presence isn't. I would rather be a doorkeeper in a church of His presence (albeit how small) than to be the pastor of a large church
where His presence isn't.
It is this persuasion of what the church could be that causes me not to be content at what the church is. I too am persuaded that there is a city with foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
