“Looking like Jesus”
Updated: Jun 13, 2022
Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this
world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
The word conformed, συσχηματίζω syschēmatíz
means to conform one's self (i.e. one's mind and character) to another's pattern, (fashion one's self according to). God doesn’t want his children to bear the likeness of the world. People should be able to see Jesus in you. Be transformed, μεταμορφόω metamorphóō to transform (literally or figuratively, "metamorphose"):--change, transfigure, transform.
When a person is born again, you have asked Jesus into your heart to be Lord of your life. What does him being Lord of my life mean? It means that you are constantly considering His desires for you. Does the Lord mind if I watch this? Does the Lord mind if I go into this establishment? We are always thinking of the Dove of the Holy Spirit that has now set on our shoulder when we revived Jesus and placed God on the throne in our life. We want to walk as a child of Gods kingdom, not as a child of darkness.
The bracelets that went around a few years back that had “WWJD” what would Jesus do, were a subtle reminder to consider if our actions we being handled the way Jesus would handle them.
So, as you walk about today think on this “am I walking according to the way Jesus would? Or am I still holding on demanding my own way?” God wants his children to look like him. Just sayin’ 😊
