“mighty Men of valor”

"Zelek the Ammonite, Nahari the Beerothite, amourbearer to Joab the son of Zuruiah. II Sam. 23:37.

When reading the story of the mighty men of valor who fought with David you come across some amazing biblical characters. Men who overcame insurmountable odds to reap victory against what looked like certain defeat. Men like Eleazar son of Dodo, who stood alone against the army of Philistia and fought and slew them until his hand grew weary and his hand clave unto his sword. Or Shammah the son of Agee who stood his ground in a pea patch while the rest of the people fled, but he stood against a troop of Philistines and slew them and wrought a great victory. And my favorite, Benaiah son of Jehoida, who slew two lion-like men of Moab. He became David's personal bodyguard.

All these men took risk and succeeded by faith in God, love of thier country, and thier love of David. Thirty-seven men of valor in all, though not all there exploits are recorded. Some were not even Izraelites. There was an Ammonite and a Hittite among them. One was the husband of Bathsheba. And one was an amourbearer named, Nahari. Now his position in life seems a little out of sink with the other men of valor. It's like saying these are

the who's who of the kingdom and oh yes here's Joe the plumber. But it goes to show you, you can function at a high level of faith in the kingdom irregardless of your trade or calling. I would rather function at a high level as an evangelist or teacher than

a low level as a pastor or prophet.

If Joe the plumber can be listed among the mighty men of valor then maybe there is hope for me to do exploits for God also. "But the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits." Dan. 11:32b.

Let's learn to step out in faith again and take risk for Christ.

As always God bless.
