- “Obedience is better than sacrifice”
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.” John 15:13 - 15 KJV
Have you ever had God ask you to do something? When His voice comes over your heart, your mind will try to reason out why you should not obey His voice. It seems as though our fallen nature tries to creep backup out of the grave we buried it in. I have walked with the Lord for 52 years now and there is still a choice I have to make when God speaks His desire or command to me, to obey or not obey. It is never a good choice to disobey the Lord. It will bring chastisement, or in simple terms “a trip to the wood shed”. Hebrews 12:8 says “But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.” In other words if your disobedience is not met with a punishment your not a son. As we grow in the Lord the very thought of disobeying Him can bring sadness. Our desire becomes one of pleasing Him. There is a father child relationship established.
I remember the night the Lord asked me if I would be willing to cast out demons. He said “Will you, or will you not? Can I or can I not count on you to bring deliverance? Someone has got to be willing to pray deliverance.” There was no way I would say “no”. You never tell God “no” and win. So as I stood there I answered Him, “I do not like it, they (demons) are yucky, but if You will cover me I will.” He has been so faithful to cover me. Every time. He has never let me down and we have dealt with a lot of demon possessed people over the years. The point here is always be obedient. God has your back. He will cover you. The victory you will experience when you are obedient is so much sweeter than the correction you will receive when you have disobeyed the Lord. Yes God will chastise His children, otherwise you will be an unruly bastard (a child with no Father).
Walk before Him with a willing heart,
