Pursuing God

“My aim is to know him, to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings, and to be like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already attained this – that is, I have not already been perfected – but I strive to lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus also laid hold of me.” Phil. 3:10-12 NET

Why pursue Him if you already have Him. This is the position so many in modern Christianity take. But the apostle said that he was out “to lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus also laid hold of me.” “That I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus” is how the KJV renders this. It seems that the hidden agenda of the Holy Spirit within the prayer movement is to allow the intercessors to apprehend that for which they have been apprehended without the participant realizing it. Just sayin’. Can you accomplish this without prayer? 🤔 … No! You say “Wow! You seem so adamant!” 🧐 … Yes!

The apostle’s agenda was, “That I might know him.” (Vs.10) the word “to know” here is from the Greek word “ginosko”. It is the Greek equivalency of the Hebrew word “Yada” which means to have experiential knowledge. Don’t let religious postering substitute your pursuit of experiencing Him. And don’t assume facts that aren’t in evidence! Just sayin’… let us pray.

“Father, you said, “blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness.” Help us pursue you deep within our spirit man, from the core of our being. And for our portion may you be our inheritance. In Jesus name. Amen.”
