Rosh Hashana

- Pastor Rusty - Oct. 1, 2024

“On the first day of the seventh month you shall have a holy convocation. You shall not do any ordinary work. It is a day for you to blow the trumpets.” Num. 29:1

“Speak to the people of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall observe a day of solemn rest, a memorial proclaimed with blast of trumpets, a holy convocation.” Lev. 23:24

Wednesday is the beginning of the Jewish New year (Rosh Hashana) which includes a two day festival that includes the Feast of Trumpets (Oct. 4), which was introduced in the book of Numbers. The day was originally observed as a Holy Day in which you did no labor, it was a day of rest. The people of Israel were to sound the shofar as day of remembrance of what YHWH had done. It is a Holy convocation.🧐 There are two distinct sounds that the Lord seams to be kissing in this season… the sound of the shofar and the sound of the drum. As a gentile believer I’ve have taken on the task of sounding the shofar at many given assemblies. I wasn’t very good at it. But I felt compelled to do it. After much trial and error and humiliation🤔 I began to get a pretty good sound from my shofar. When I asked the Lord, “what am I doing?” He said, “You a calling in the angels!” True story. So by faith I continue to “sound” the shofar as every time we call a Holy assembly with heaven and earth.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” Heb. 12:1
