Sweeter than Honey
I wrote this last week and when I logged on to the Bing homepage today it was a picture of honey comb for the Jewish New Year! Wow that's God timing cause I had no clue!
Sweeter than Honey – Daily Word – 9-10-2018
1 Samuel 14:24-27 24 Now the Israelites were in distress that day, because Saul had bound the people under an oath, saying, "Cursed be anyone who eats food before evening comes, before I have avenged myself on my enemies!" So none of the troops tasted food. 25The entire army entered the woods, and there was honey on the ground. 26When they went into the woods, they saw the honey oozing out; yet no one put his hand to his mouth, because they feared the oath. 27But Jonathan had not heard that his father had bound the people with the oath, so he reached out the end of the staff that was in his hand and dipped it into the honeycomb. He raised his hand to his mouth, and his eyes brightened.
There is an older song by Brian Doerksen titled “Holy and Anointed One”. One of the lines in it says “Your name is like honey on my lips, Your spirit like water to my soul. Your word is a lamp unto my feet, Jesus I love You, I love You.” It is a statement of worship to our God of how completely wonderful He is. He is like honey on my lips bringing enlightenment to my soul. My soul, the very part of me that is eternal, forever and ever existing. Your flesh will die and vanish from ever having been, but your spirit man will live on. Nourish your spirit man get him ready to live in the very presence of God. Let the honey of the glory of God just drip onto your spiritual tongue. I saw a clip Bill Johnson did on a Sid Roth “Its Super Natural” and on this interview Bill Johnson was sharing how that the glory of God had come into the church there at Redding. It looked like a cloud but when you looked real close it was like gold dust swirling around inside the building. He said that he and pretty much all the adults were staring at it trying to figure it out but the children when they saw it, ran into the cloud with their hands up and their mouths wide open trying to catch all they could. They did not analyze what was happening but jumped right in as kids do. I believe that is why Jesus said we must become like little children. Open your mouth and get ready to receive all God is bringing to you! His Kingdom is real, Oh taste and see that the Lord is good!
