The Garden of Eden
- Pastor Rusty - Nov. 3, 2023 “And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.” Gen. 2:8-10
The ministry of reconciliation that is in Christ is for the restoration of all things. Restoring all things to God’s original intent and innocence. The Garden of Eden represents God’s original intent. The word Eden in the Hebrew means “pleasure.” He made the man in a wilderness and then placed him in the Garden, this paradise of “delight”. He then made a woman and presented her to the man as his wife (Ishahah). God’s original intent for the marital relation was this garden. After the fall the way to Eden was protected by cherubim and a flaming sword. The fear of the flaming sword has prevented mankind’s access to Eden ever since.🤔. The Christian community has been taught to fear the examination of the Lord and to avoid it all cost. Our plan of salvation teaches us exemption from such things as God’s examination and judgements. But David cried out, “Search me [thoroughly], O God, and know my heart; Test me and know my anxious thoughts;” Psa. 139:23. God’s judgements aren’t meant for your destruction but rather for your elevation. If you are unwilling to go through God’s thorough examination you will never find out what’s available to the believer on the other side of the flaming sword. Think about it.🤔 Pastor Rusty
