Daily Word - 06.29.19 - Pastor Sheliah
As I sat down to read the Word and pray this morning, I did what I always do - check the Glory Barn Branson Facebook page for today’s article! Well, there was NO article today, and not until then did I realize that it was because I was the one responsible to have posted today’s Daily Word!
Oops! At first, frustrated, then laughing at myself, I realize that nothing in my life seems to be “normal” these days, and what has always been a crammed-full schedule has become a much slower pace of life! And for me, I like being productive - thus to slow down to what seems to be a “snail’s pace” is a bit frustrating. Seems I have to check the calendar to see what the date and day is, only to find that I may have only one project planned! When just a short time ago that would have been 3 or 4 appointments - and back-to-back timing.
I find myself asking my Father, “so what is going on with me?” And He reminds me that David wrote, “My times are in Your hands!” (Ps.31:15) The Passion Translation in that passage reads, “My life, my every moment, my destiny—it’s all in Your hands. So I know You can deliver me …“
Therefore, today, I am reexamining my life, my activities, my perspective and my destiny in His Kingdom! Today I declare that “today is the first day of the rest of my life,” and I intend to make the most of each day; living with power and purpose and finish stronger than ever!
We cannot compare our days but realize that life has “seasons” and we are given the opportunity to appreciate and enjoy each one! I grew up in Louisiana where we had only two seasons (as I told my mother when she worried about the “bad winters” here. Louisiana has “hot and muggy” and “warm and muggy” seasons.) However, we experience all four seasons in the Ozarks! And I love all of them! (Maybe not so much in the hot summer, but the foliage is beautiful here during summer season.)
Similarly, God has set His time and our days for an eternal purpose; much more than we can see in our limited chronological mind-set. Each day is a gift from our Father --"God who gives rain in both spring and autumn and maintains the rhythm of the seasons, Who sets aside time each year for harvest and keeps everything running smoothly for us?” (Jeremiah.5:24)
Yes! Yes! Yes! Although I may not fully understand what is happening in my life right now, I know and trust my loving Heavenly Father. I know He has saved the very best for last. (John.2:10).
And His promise is to us through Jeremiah (29:11-14) “I’ll show up and take care of you as I promised ... I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.
“When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen. When you come looking for me, you’ll find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.” God’s Decree.”
So, there it is -- “When I come looking for Him -- wanting Him more than anything else -- I’ll find Him!” If I seek Him, I will discover His will and way in these days. New season, new experiences, new direction, but I will never be disappointed in Jesus! Neither will you, “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.” (Philippians.2:13 NLT)
I can’t wait to see what He has planned for this new season in my life! --
Remember, “Your times (and seasons) are in His hands” as well. Enjoy every moment! ~ Shelia Hart Artt
