"And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all in one accord in one place.” Acts 2:1
They were in one accord. Nothing major in the body of Christ ever seems to happen without it. These words "one accord" are taken from the Greek word homothymadon, which means “unanimous”. It's a unique Greek word found 12 times in the New Testament, ten of those times are in the book of Acts. It's an amazing Testament of the believers in the first century church.
Homothymadon is acomposite of two Greek words meaning to "rushalong" and "in unison". Harmony is not people singing the same part. It's different people singing different parts in the same pitch. You need an alto, a tenor, a bass, a baritone, get the picture. It's bringing different parts together. In a band everyone does not play the same instrument. (That could get boring fast). No, people play different instruments in the same key. This is key. You have apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, and evangelist, all working together, "Till we all come together in the unity of the faith." Eph. 4:13. The world seems to unify only when it has a common enemy. We need to unify because we have a common friend. JESUS. “No other name under heaven, given among men, whereby we must be saved”. Acts 4:12.
Let us bring our different parts to the table and find unity in the Spirit.
