“Journey to Shiloh”

- Pastor Rusty - Sept. 19, 2023

“The entire Israelite community assembled at Shiloh and there they set up the tent of meeting.” Joshua 18:1

When the children of Israel first began to subdue the land, the first resting place for the tabernacle was in Shiloh. It was located in the land of the tribe of Ephraim, 31 klm north of Jerusalem. It remained there some 369 years according to Talmudist. The word Shiloh (pronounced shee-lo) means “place of rest” or “tranquility”. This is where the ark remained for a long season. The ark of His Presence would ultimately make its way to Jerusalem (the place of peace). Jerusalem represents the heart, but Shiloh represents the mind. Don’t underestimate the role that God’s presence plays on the mind. Most people are dysfunctional because of the absence of tranquility of mind. And most people have absence of tranquility because of the absence of God’s presence in their lives. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2Tim. 1:7. So many dysfunctional homes, fathers, families, mothers, teenagers… begin this spiral of mental anguish simply from lack of peace in their hearts and tranquility of thought. Let God restore your “resting place” and give you soundness of mind. As a bonus he is able to bring peace to a troubled heart by simply asking Him in. Let us pray. “Father forgive me for abandoning your precepts of peace. Transform my mind, and renew it to be conformed to yours. Capture my imagination and thought and redeem them for your purpose. Redeem Shiloh, For your purpose in Jesus name. Amen.”
