It is in the quiet of the night that you can hear very clearly. I think that has become some of my most favorite times. Our busy lives come to a stop as we recharge our bodies for the next day.
There is a Jewish teaching that God is closest to the earth in the third watch of the night. It does seem that he likes to visit his children in that third watch from 12 midnight to 3:00am in dreams and words.
Let me encourage you as a believer, you need those times of communication with your Father God. He wants to know you and we definitely need to know him. It is utterly impossible to be like him if we don’t know him. The Bible says “O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” Psalms 34:8. Let’s taste him. Let’s hunger for more of him!
There really is no hope in this life or in eternity without him as your God. He is alive. When you place another god beside him, he will knock the false god over making it break into pieces. 1 Samuel 5:2-5 “When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon[a] and set it by Dagon. 3 And when the people of Ashdod arose early in the morning, there was Dagon, fallen on its face to the earth before the ark of the Lord. So they took Dagon and set it in its place again. 4 And when they arose early the next morning, there was Dagon, fallen on its face to the ground before the ark of the Lord. The head of Dagon and both the palms of its hands were broken off on the threshold; only [b]Dagon’s torso was left of it. 5 Therefore neither the priests of Dagon nor any who come into Dagon’s house tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod to this day.”
So why would anyone worship any other god? We want the real thing, Jesus Lord and Savior.
Next time your laying upon your bed and the world is quiet, ask him to speak to you.
