“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” II Chron. 7:14

This is possibly the most iconic passage of scripture on prayer in the Bible. It covers all the basis of cause and effect as it pertains to prayer… (what to do and what you can expect).

The first part of the verse deals with what you should do, while the second part deals with what He will do if the party of the first part meets the requirement… A promise with condition. The First part is about identity for He is addressing a specific group… My people. Is this you? We are indeed and like Isra-el, we are indeed called by His name. Through Christ we gain identity into the brethren… “For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.” Eph. 3:14 -15. After identity comes moving into the frequency of grace. Not finding humility can be the singularly most crippling activity on the part of God’s people because “God gives grace to the humble” and He “resist the proud.” 1 Pet. 5:5. When does He do this? Always!!! Humility aligns itself with grace. They function on the same frequency. Lack of humility on the part of the believer many times prevents him or her from receiving healing from the Father. Look at Namaan the leper who came to Elisha for healing. He was required to wash himself seven times in the river Jordan. Even though he was offended by this instruction at first, his servant convinced him to humble himself and do as he was told. The end result he was healed. (It’s hard to throw stones at success when it comes to healing). Humility allowed him to move into a position of blessing as it will you too. This is probably the most overlooked instruction in II Chonicles 7:14. I have personally received healing following this exact format. Humility, prayer, seeking His face, and turning from corrupt behavior!!! What a formula! (Notice prayer and seeking His face are two separate operations.) prayer is petition, but seeking His face is the pursuit of His will, it is alignment. (Matt. 6:33). “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.” Seeking His face is coming into alignment of His will for your life. “Thy will be done” not my will be done. Prayer without humility can be noise! Recover this missing part (humility) in your life and watch the downloads come! 🤔 Pastor Rusty
