The gift of interpretation of tongues. Interpretation or hermēneía meaning translation:--interpretation of tongues or glōssa meaning the language or dialect used by a particular people distinct from that of other nations. This gift brings an understanding to those having heard a message given in tongues as to what was being said. God does choose this method of speaking to His children at times.
In 1 Corinthians 14:27 it says that “If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.” (KJV) Remember this is a gift given by God to help us in our walk with him as we gather together. This gift shouldn’t scare you. It is the Kingdom of heaven at work.
I had an experience in Nicaragua with interaction of tongues. One night a Nicaraguan pastor said he had a message from God for me. The pastor, his wife, our translator ( who was with us to translate the meetings from our English to their Spanish), me and my husband Rusty. Well the pastor started praying. He began to speak in tongues. Just like the gift of tongues we covered in the last blog. As he spoke in tongues of the spirit, his wife began to interpret from tongues to Spanish. She was using the gift we are discussing here. As she interpreted the tongues to Spanish, our interpreter translated her Spanish to English so that I understood. This was such a neat experience in the Lord. It was a good word to me, encouraging me to step out in faith for healings. And it was a right on word because we had been seeing miracles happen in our meetings.
God cares about you so much and he wants you to understand and communicate with him. Seek the Lord for his gifts. Each one of the spiritual gifts are important to the body of Christ. Learn the Kingdom of heaven. Seek and you will find.
