The gift of miracles is a gift from the Father. Let’s take a look at miracles.
Jesus worked miracles. He said in John 14:12 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”
“Greater works than these”, that sounds like a commission to reach for more! I hunger to see the miraculous power of God in full display in our church. I do believe it is coming.
The gift of miracles is a supernatural event that one can witness with their own eyes. I have seen miracles happen. Some by the hand of my own dad who ministered across this country when I was a child. I watched blind eyes open. It is so exciting to witness someone who cannot see all of a sudden be able to see! Oh the rejoicing that takes place! I have witnessed blind eyes open as my husband, Pastor Rusty laid hands on a blind person in one of our crusades in Costa Rica. I have laid hands on four different deaf mutes and watched God open their ears and free their tongues to speak! That builds your faith real fast! I saw my dad raise a dead baby from death back to life! She is still alive today and has a family. You never forget these once you see them. I was speaking in a women’s meeting in upstate New York when a woman in a wheel chair jumped up, danced, and started pushing her wheel chair around the building! She even pushed it out to the car as she left healed by the power of God!
So do I believe God still does miracles? Yes! Definitely. Why do we not see them happen as much in the US? Because we have medical help available at our call. When our desire and desperation rises and interacts with our faith, we will see more miracles happen. It isn’t unusual to see them in 3rd world countries where medicine and help is not easily obtained. Can God do miracles here in the US? You bet He can! I have seen Him!
We didn’t cover all the gifts of the spirit here. It may take a few more blogs to get it all said. God has gifts for you. As we discuss the gifts I pray that if you don’t know your gifting you will come to know the gifts God has for you.
