The Point of Surrender — Making Jesus Lord of Our Life

There comes a moment in every believer’s journey where faith is no longer just about believing in Jesus, but about surrendering to Him. It’s not merely accepting His salvation, but giving Him the throne of our hearts—crowning Him Lord over every part of our life.

Romans 10:9 says, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

But declaring Jesus as Lord is not just words—it’s a choice of surrender.

Surrender means releasing control. It’s letting go of our own plans, pride, fears, and preferences. It’s the point where we stop asking Jesus to follow us and instead, we follow Him.

At that point of surrender:

• We exchange anxiety for His peace.

• We trade striving for resting in His purpose.

• We stop building our own kingdoms and begin seeking His. Once you start walking in that place of surrender you will experience TRUE KINGDOM. You will be walking in His will which brings not just blessings, but freedom. Doesn’t make sense to the carnal man, that giving more of yourself to the Lord would equal more freedom but it does. Those chains you thought you had to just live with will fall off!

Luke 9:23 reminds us of Jesus’ words:

“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”

That daily surrender isn’t weakness—it’s worship.

Let this be your prayer today: “Jesus, I give You more than my heart—I give You my whole life. Be Lord of my choices, my time, my thoughts, and my future. I step off the throne and invite You to take Your rightful place. Rule in me.”

At the point of surrender, life truly begins. Not as ours, but as His—and in that, we find fullness, freedom, and purpose.
