“When Leah saw that she had ceased bearing children, she took her servant Zilpah and gave her to Jacob as a wife. Then Leah’s servant Zilpah bore Jacob a son. And Leah said, “Good fortune has come!” so she called his name Gad.” Gen. 30:9-11.

Of the twelve sons of Jacob, four were born through surrogacy via two servant girls who (according to tradition) were sisters. The first was Rachel’s handmaiden, Bilhah, the second was Leah’s handmaiden, Zilpah.

There is an expectation that the partnership between Christ and the church is to bring certain fruit into the world. “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.” John 15:16. Sometimes God has to move you away from your traditional mothers (Rachel and Leah) Denominational mothers, to cause the birthing of specific fruition in your life. 🤔 (selah). (Pause for a moment and let that sink in.) 🤔 (This is my “selah” emoji.) Sometimes you have to go off roading with Jesus to get where you are going and your denominational mothers won’t take there. They not only won’t, they can’t! God has deliberately wrapped certain giftings in packages they can’t provide. Certain of the sons of Jacob could only be born through this spiritual surrogacy. God has to move you outside the box of traditional to get you in a place of being able to conceive certain fruit in your spiritual journey.🤔 In the case of Gad being born, Leah had already born four sons to Jacob naturally. But the hunger to have more causes her to introduce her husband to her hand maid, Zilpah. Zilpah, (dripping fragrance) conceives and brings forth Gad (good fortune). Gad is a full son of Jacob even so he was born of a slave girl.🤔 There is a blessing that the body of Christ is to bear that a part of the blessing of Abraham. It is called “Good Fortune”. People ought to be able to see good fortune in your life. Now this can take many forms and manifest in your life, children, marriage, and yes, possessions. Your land ought to be blessed, your home ought to be blessed, your refrigerator ought to be blessed. You ought to move beyond lack and into overflow. You ought to say “my cup overfloweth!” Goodness and mercy ought to be following you! People ought to be able to say about you, “You are blessed.” My washer and dryer is 19 yrs old and has never had a problem… YES I am blessed! Because I have pursued HIS presence and not religion, Gad has become part of my life. It is a subtle expectation that irregardless of the situation surrounding me the Lord will make a way for me. Amen! I’m to blessed to e stressed! Pastor Rusty
