“And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.” Rev. 5:8
I heard Chuck Davis use this phrase more than once at a prayer core gathering. It struck a Holy Ghost cord with me. He is talking about the bowls of incense “which are the prayers of the saints.” Two things of noteworthy. One, the incense is a powder and it’s on fire 🔥 emitting a fragrant smoke. The word incense is from the Greek word “thumiama”, which means there is a Burning going on. Two, the bowls are FULL. This word is taken from the Greek word “gemó”, which means that it is swelling out.
If you want your bowl to tip then get it full. Maybe, just maybe, He (The Lord) is waiting for a full bowl. When our bowls are full they tip. Just sayin’. Maybe there is something to the volume of prayer that is in one’s life that when the bowl becomes full it begins to overflow.
“Pray without ceasing.” 1 Thes. 5:17
“They all met together and were constantly united in prayer,” Acts 1:14
“Continue steadfastly in prayer, watching in it, with thanksgiving.” Col. 4:2
“In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God.” Luke 6:12
Are you sensing a theme here?🤔 What an example Jesus set, filling His own bowl!🧐 WOW!
When Belinda graciously fills my desert bowl for me at church there are those who feel I should fill my own bowl. Wow! I feel the same way… “Fill your own bowls!”
