“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Phi. 4:13
My recipe for a grilled cheese sandwich; Put two pieces of bread in the toaster, toast till lightly brown… when toasted, smear a pat of butter on each piece of toast. Place one slice of American cheese on one of the pieces of toast and sandwich the cheese in between. Nuke on a paper plate for seven seconds in the microwave to soften the cheese… Viola! The perfect grilled cheese sandwich. (Yes Virginia, I can cook!). “For I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Some translations leave the word “Christ” out of this passage and simply insert the pronoun “Him” in its place. This is because the Greek manuscript they are translating from does not include the word “Christos” in the text, so the translators arbitrarily assign the word “Him” to the text even though this pronoun does not appear in their manuscript.🧐 Also the KJV assigns the word “which” in the place of “who” strengthens me. Not that the latter discrepancy is of any major consequence.🤔 It just seems like bad English even for fifteenth century English.🤔 At the end of the day it is this version of this passage that takes all ambiguity out of it. That it is Christ, and only through Christ, that I can do ALL THINGS. And it is Christ, that strengthens me.
The word “strengthens” is from the Greek word “endunimoo” which means to be endued with power. It is a derivative of the Greek word “dunamis”.🤔
“Holy Father, endue us with power… Holy Ghost Power! Endue us with Supernatural Holy Ghost Power. That we might work the works of Christ in the earth. That we might “heal the sick, cleanse the leper, raise the dead” In Jesus name… Amen!” Pastor Rusty
