“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” Lk 2:14

“Hark! the herald angels sing,

“Glory to the newborn King,

peace on earth, and mercy mild,

God and sinners reconciled!” Charles Wesley

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isa. 26:3.

Possibly the greatest angelic declaration ever made is Luke 2:14. It gives glory to God in the highest and then declares peace on earth and goodwill towards men.

Of course, they were heralding the birth of Yeshua to shepherds in a field. No marquees in Jerusalem, no bright lights in the temple, all that is recorded is this powerful declaration to the shepherds.

The opening line from my favorite Christmas hymn is from this event of angels declaring PEACE! Jesus said, “My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you.” Jn. 14:27. The world offers hollow substitutes such as pleasure, fun and distraction. But the kingdom of God is “righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost!” Rom. 14:17.

Peace is a barometer that one is functioning in the Kingdom.🤔 Isaiah makes this promise… “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you.” Isa. 22:3 ESV. The Hebrew text reads “Shaloam, Shaloam”, Peace Peace!🧐 In this hectic, chaotic season keep your peace!

“Holy Father, you are the center of all things… keep our hearts in a holy place this season and cause the love of Jesus to fill our hearts in spite of the world, in Jesus name, amen!” Pastor Rusty.
