Jesus Christ is the Light of the world

One of the most fascinating mysteries surrounding Jesus is the Shroud of Turin. Scientists have long observed that the image on the linen appears as a negative image and has characteristics unlike ordinary paint or dye. Some researchers have suggested that an intense burst of radiant energy or light could explain how the image was imprinted on the cloth.

Jesus Christ is the Light of the world.

Jesus declared:

“I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8:12 KJV)

When Christ rose from the grave, death could not hold Him. The power of God transformed the tomb from a place of darkness into a place of resurrection and life. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is still at work today.

The Apostle Paul wrote:

“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” (2 Corinthians 4:6 KJV)

Just as light leaves its mark, an encounter with Jesus leaves an imprint upon our lives. His light exposes darkness, heals brokenness, renews minds, and transforms hearts. No sin is too dark, no wound too deep, and no life too far gone for the power of Christ.

The resurrection is more than a historical event—it is an invitation. When we surrender to Jesus, His light shines into every corner of our lives, making us new creations and reflecting His glory to the world.

I met a young man this last week who noticed my t shirt had Hebrew writing on it. He lit up and asked about my shirt. Then he says "I believe! I would love to see the place they laid him!" I said "you mean the tomb?" He said "yes, I want to go there where they wrapped him in the linen cloth." I said "you mean the Shroud of Turin? And can you imagine the power of the light that burst out of him! Strong enough to make a negative on the linen!" He said "I know!" I could actually feel the Lord show up right there! It was refreshing seeing a young teen so excited about Jesus! Lord make us all excited about you! Let our hearts leap within us when we hear your name!

Let's pray. Lord Jesus, shine Your light into every area of my life. Drive out darkness, fear, and unbelief. Let the power of Your resurrection transform me from the inside out. May Your light be seen in my words, actions, and testimony, so others may know You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
