“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
There is a holy finality in these words—old things are passed away. Not mended. Not improved. Not temporarily set aside. Passed away. When you came to Christ, God did not begin a renovation; He began a resurrection.
To be in Christ means you have been taken out of the old Adam—out of the guilt, the bondage, the patterns, the shame—and brought into a new identity, a new nature, and a new destiny. You aren’t simply a better version of who you were. You are someone who did not exist before. All things are made new!
Your old record? Erased by the blood.
Your old chains? Broken by His authority.
Your old shame? Covered by His righteousness.
Your old life? Buried with Him in His death (Romans 6:4).
And now, a new life rises—His life inside you. You are a new man!
But sometimes, even after becoming new, we still hear echoes of the old. Old habits try to whisper. Old memories knock on the door. Old patterns attempt to pull us back. But God says, “Behold, all things are become new.” The word “behold” means look carefully, pay close attention.
In other words:
Stop looking at who you were—look at who you are now. Move forward never backward.
In the Greek word “New” (καινός / kainos)
• Kainos means fresh, unprecedented, unheard of, new in kind or quality.
It’s not new like a child growing older; it’s new like a seed becoming a tree—something fundamentally different.
Your new life isn’t a slightly improved past—it is a completely different kind of existence.
🔥Reflecting the New Life🔥
Being a new creation means:
• Your mind is being renewed
• Your desires begin to shift
• Your values align with heaven
• Your identity is rooted in Christ, not in your failures
• You have the Holy Spirit empowering you to walk differently
The new creation doesn’t always feel new at first. But the truth of it stands firm, regardless of feelings. God’s declaration over you is stronger than your emotions, your past, or your memories.
