“1 In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the traina of his robe filled the temple. 2Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3And one called to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory” Isa. 6:1-3
What a powerful revelation. The prophet Isaiah sees Yahweh high and lifted up. There is a tradition among the Jews that says King Manasseh had Isaiah “sawn asunder” because he claimed to have seen Yahweh. 🤔 The seraphim (burning ones) are introduced here. Their function appears to have been to make declaration of the Holiness of God. Can you imagine beings created for the purpose of giving glory to God before the throne of God. Imagine when these burning ones 🔥 begin to show up at prayer and worship gatherings around the world. Heaven and earth are colliding. What insertion do they bring to the table? They declare, “Holy, holy, Holy, is the LORD of host!” The phrase “Holy” (qadosh) is expressed not randomly but specifically three times, as if tripling down on the declaration of God’s holiness. With each expression of His holiness, not just reinforcing, but magnifying and multiplying the expression.🧐 mmmm…selah! The biblical expression is not random. It’s like blasting the shofar, you always sense the need to reinforce the first sounding with another, and another, three times.🤔 When measuring earthquakes on the Richter scale a 3.0 is twice as powerful as a 2.0. A 4.0 is twice as powerful as a 3.0. Get the picture. You are doubling in strength with each sounding.🤔 mmm. Think on the Holiness of God today and may your life acclimate to His. Amen.
