Just recently I had someone ask me how we know what our gifts from God are. It is something that every believer should know or should want to know. Hopefully we can bring some clearness to this topic.
God gives his children a variety of gifts. These gifts help us in our walk. Paul states in 1 Corinthians 12:1 “Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed.” He goes on to say,“4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.”
Over the years I have seen many gifts of God function. They are vitally important to the Kingdom and the benefit from them is priceless. Let’s look at a list of spiritual gifts that are listed in 1Corinthians 12:8 - 10. 8 “For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit,”9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.”
So we have nine spiritual gifts of God which are mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12:4-11. They are:
1. Word of wisdom
2. Word of knowledge
3. Gift of faith
4. Gifts of healing
5. Working of miracles
6. Prophecy
7. Discernment of spirits
8. Speaking in tongues
9. Interpreting tongues
I want to go over each one of the gifts and see what they are, how they function, and personal experience with each one. It will take a few blogs to do this so please bear with me. I want to shed light on each one and then help you realize which ones the Lord has blessed you with. God is a good God and He likes to give His children good gifts! Matt. 7:9-11 “9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!”
Hang on! We are going to have fun learning! I want you to read these scriptures again, then in your prayer time ask God which gifts He has given to you.
