Thanksgiving

- Pastor Rusty - Nov. 24, 2023 “And if thou offer a meat offering of thy first fruits unto the LORD, thou shalt offer for the meat offering of thy first fruits green ears of corn dried by the fire, even corn beaten out of full ears.

And thou shalt put oil upon it, and lay frankincense thereon: it is a meat offering.

And the priest shall burn the memorial of it, part of the beaten corn thereof, and part of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof: it is an offering made by fire unto the LORD.” Lev. 2:14-16

Fine flour, pure olive oil, and frankincense were included in all the meal (grain) offerings presented to the Lord. The priest would season them with salt and burn them with fire. The aroma was a sweet savor unto the the Lord. So let me break this down for you. The unleavened flour is truth. The oil is the Spirit, and frankincense is the giving of thanks (The outward expression of gratitude). These were the required ingredients in these sacrificial praise offerings unto the Lord. In The Gospel of John chapter four, Jesus said that the true worshipers of God must worship in Spirit and in truth. These are mandatory ingredients of true worship. Having a heart of gratitude and the giving of thanks allows the believer to have heaven’s perspective in their life. It puts things in proper order for the believer. That order being that He is creator and you are the creation. Thanksgiving is truly an American (Holyday) that is uniquely ours and our offering to the world. It brings to the table humility in that thanks should be offered to the God of heaven for all our blessings and benefits. It is truly a HOLYDAY that originated with us and is amazingly biblical in concept. Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, for His mercy endures forever. Let us pray. “Father, give us an attitude of gratitude, remove complaining far from us, cause us to give thanks with a grateful heart and to offer frankincense in the offerings of praise. In the name of Jesus. Amen!” Pastor Rusty
