“The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen for his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.” John 10:3 Berean Bible
Who is the gatekeeper in this metaphoric analogy?
The gatekeeper is called a porter in the KJV (king James Bible). The word porter comes from the French word “Poitier”, which means doorkeeper.🤔 The doorkeeper isn’t the shepherd… but more apply he’s the keeper of the door or gate or portal. In this particular scenario in John 10:3 the gatekeeper could be an angel (but I think not). These are strong men and women that “open the gate for Him” and keep it closed for anyone else. They open the gate so He can have access to His sheep. These gatekeepers function in a region not a church and they serve many flocks by reason of being a gatekeeper.
Learning the principle of letting the right one in is as key to keeping the wrong one out. As a gatekeeper for this region it is important to open a portal for the King of Glory to enter to His flock as it is in keeping the wolves out. The gatekeeper must know the shepherd’s voice as well and allow Him access to His sheep.🤔 The Lord is raising up regional “strongmen” for just this purpose all over the Ozarks. At key gateways (I count eight) around the Ozarks these are ports of entry that require strongmen in the gate. To spoil a man’s house you must bind the strongman first. “When a strong man, fully armed, guards his house, his possessions are secure.” Lk. 11:21. This works both ways… when addressing demonic strongholds you must learn to bind the strongman first. The same principle in reverse is establishing “strongman” gatekeepers to function at every gate or portal of entry.🤔
“Holy Father, establish these strongmen and strongwomen throughout the heartland. Help us to open a gate to the King of Glory, the Good Shepherd! We cry out, “You are welcome here!”and help us close the gate to detrimental activity and influence throughout our regions. In Jesus name… Amen!”
“Lift up your heads, O gates! Be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of Glory may enter! Who is this King of Glory? The LORD Strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O gates! Be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of Glory may enter!” Psa. 24:7-9.
