Thru the wind and thru the fire! What I am thankful for this year, our family is still here with us! It could have been so much worse! Thank you Lord for your protection! - Pastor Belinda
Here is a what happened to them in one day:
It was a normal morning as Pfeiffer got off to school. As her dad dropped her off she turned and said “I love you!” as the car door shut. Arriving a little before the bell rang beginning the morning classes.
As Pfeiffer listened to her teacher trying to understand the latest math problem clouds began to roll in making the sky go dark.
Pfeiffer’s grandma who lives about 40 miles away received an alert on her phone. Bad weather was on the move and it looked like it would be coming Pfeiffer’s way. Grandma sent a text to Pfeiffer’s dad, “Hey son, I just had an alert theres a tornado warning looks like it is going to come your way. Might keep an eye on it” grandma’s text read. “Yeah, I saw that” Pfeiffer’s dad replied, “we are watching it”.
It wasn’t long until the tornado sirens were sounding off warning of the tornado headed their way. It can be scary no matter how prepared you are.
Pfeiffer had been thru a few tornados in her young life. The school she attends had just built a shelter for the students. As the sirens sounded the students were all quickly but orderly filed into the shelter.
Now Pfeiffer’s grandma was getting a bit worried. The stormed had passed thru the town just 30 miles west of Pfeiffer leaving damaged behind. Trees up rooted, buildings blown down, electrical power out. And now it was headed toward Pfeiffer and her family. Pfeiffer’s home is very close to her school.
As grandma texted Pfeiffer’s dad she received a text back that said “ we are watching it, Pfeiffer is in shelter at school. We are here at the house taking cover.”
Grandma began to pray. She prayed that God would keep them all safe. That Jesus would calm the storm and protect those in its path.
After sometime, the school officials let the students come out of shelter. There was damage to the near by airport and at the school a tree had come thru a window. Other than that the school was ok but the electricity was out.
When Pfeiffer returned home she found her neighborhood had damage. Lots of big old oak trees that had stood for years were now laying over with their roots showing. Seemed everyone one was ok other than a lot of damage to the neighbors houses and that there was no electricity. Pfeiffer and her family were safe and so thankful because it could have been worse. Wow! What a day she had experienced! She was so thankful for that new shelter the school had built!
As Pfeiffer and her family tried to settle in for the night it was hard. No electricity meant no tv, no Xbox, no charging your tablets, no lights, and it meant no supper on the electric stove! So many things that we take for granted! It made her truly miss all of it!!
As evening rolled along they decided to light some candles so they could at least see to move about the house. As bedtime came they blew out the candles, all of them, or so they thought. They missed one little candle. That one little candle would cause something that would change their lives.
As they laid down to sleep Pfeiffer fell asleep in the living room. She didn’t want to go back to her room, it was just to dark! She fell asleep and was out for about two and a half hours. Then suddenly she woke up. It had been dark in the room before but now it was light! And the light was growing big! Pfeiffer realized it was a fire! She knew she had to wake her family! She looked and the only way out for her was to run between the fire which was bigger than her and a chair that was melting! She ran right between them and into the kitchen! She began screaming for her family to wake up! As they woke and realized they were in big trouble! They ran quickly and all got out! As they stood outside their house was burning! They heard their pet dog, Sabrina barking. Remembering she was in the kitchen locked in her kennel Pfeiffer’s dad tried to go back in but the thick black smoke wouldn’t let him. Then he realized there was about a 10 inch clear space at the floor level. He had to save Sabrina! He crawled back inside laying on the floor sliding along until her reached her kennel where he flipped the latch and out Sabrina ran! Nathan quickly slide back out of the kitchen.
He had made it and Sabrina was safe with the rest of the family standing outside.
This was a hard thing watching as your home goes up in flames. It wasn’t just your home but everything that was yours, gone so quickly.
Looking back over that night there had to be angels in the house. Angels that woke up a little girl to a fire that was bigger than her. Pfeiffer ran between the fire and a chair that were about 3 feet apart. The chair was already melting but just like Shadrack Meshack, and Abendigo, she didn’t burn! Her hair didn’t even singe, her clothes were not burnt, God had kept her in the midst of the fire! Her family were all safe. Things can be replaced the important thing, our loved ones are alive.
In one day Pfeiffer had been in a tornado and a house fire but came thru both! Her angels were on duty that day.
At the age of 8 years she is our hero. She saved her family from the fire! You don’t have to be big to be a hero. Just like David in the Bible Pfeiffer faced the giant (the fire) and rescued her family.
So when you lay down to sleep don’t take it for granted that you will wake in the morning the same. Say your prayers so that If you have to pass thru the fire or the tornado your angels will be on guard.
For he will order his angels
to protect you in all you do. Psalms 91:11
Thank you Lord for protection! Our lives could have been so much different this Thanksgiving if our granddaughter hadn’t woke up. We are so thankful we have our family with us! So thankful God spared them all!♥️
