Day 2 —Walking thru Israel with Jesus - Pastor Belinda🌷 - April 6, 2026

Location: Nazareth

He was not honored here. Familiarity blinded hearts.

Honor unlocks revelation. Have you grown too familiar with Jesus?

“A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.” — Gospel of Mark 6:4 kjv

There is something deeply sobering about the moment Jesus returned to His hometown of Nazareth. This was the place where He had grown up—the people knew His family, His history, His trade. They had watched Him as a child, seen Him as a carpenter, and heard the ordinary details of His life.

And yet… when the Son of God stood before them, they could not see Him.

Not because He lacked power.

Not because He lacked truth.

But because they lacked honor.

Familiarity had veiled their perception.

I believe it is easy to fall in this category if you have been raised in church. Raised around the movements of God.

The people in Nazareth said, “Is not this the carpenter?” and in doing so, they reduced the divine to the common. What should have stirred awe instead stirred offense. What should have produced faith instead produced doubt.

And the result is one of the most striking statements in Scripture:

He could do no mighty works there… because of their unbelief (Mark 6:5–6).

Honor Unlocks Revelation

Honor is not just respect—it is the posture of the heart that recognizes who God truly is. It creates room for heaven to move. Where honor is present, revelation flows. Where honor is absent, even miracles can be restrained.

The people of Nazareth missed their moment—not because Jesus withheld Himself, but because they could not receive Him.

Familiarity whispered:

“I already know Him.”

But honor declares:

“There is more of Him I have yet to see.”

Have You Grown Too Familiar with Jesus?

It is possible to know about Jesus… and yet stop truly seeing Him.

• Have His words become routine instead of life-giving?

• Has prayer become habit instead of encounter?

• Has His presence become expected instead of treasured?

Familiarity can quietly dull wonder. It can turn holy moments into ordinary ones. A well known minister that we have loved over the years once said “ we have become to familiar with a God we barely know”. This is so true. We must remember “who” He is. Honor Him, respect Him, but most of all remember that He is God.

Jesus is never common.

The same Christ who walked in Nazareth is still full of glory, power, and mystery. Every time you come before Him, there is more to discover, more to receive, more to experience.

Let’s pray,

Lord Jesus, forgive me for every place where I have treated You as common. Restore the awe of Your presence in my heart.

Teach me to honor You—not just with my words, but with my expectation and with my whole heart. Help me to never forget that You are holy. And beside you there is no other!

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
