“Walking with God in the cool of the garden”

- Pastor Belinda🌷- Sept. 30, 2024

8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Genesis 3:8

God came looking for Adam. I have always loved this scripture describing how Adam would apparently go walking with God in the cool of the day, otherwise why was God there for a visit? Why was He seeking after Adam? Adam and Eve had eaten of the fruit God had told them to avoid. Their eyes had been enlightened and they could see their nakedness. Their new ability to see had now taken away their innocence.

I want to discuss the communion God had been having with Adam. The closer we walk with God our Father the more accountability we have. Let’s look at Matthew 12:36 “So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.“ This isn’t something to run from. As my sons grew up the relationship between us grew. I would expect more from my son at 20 years then I did at 2 years. Our conversation changed and matured. We went from baby talk to world topics. He understood the conversation. Also my expectation for him to know and carry out his obligations grew. I didn’t just expect him to know how to toddle across the floor, but I expected him to drive a car. Acts 17:30 30 In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.

Once Adam introduced mankind to the tree of goodness and evil, God required us to know that difference and called us to function at a level that knows the difference.

Adam had the experience of walking with God in the garden. I don’t believe he knew the value of this until he had fallen. He hid from God when God came calling. God asked Adam “Who told you that you were naked?” 9 Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” 11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?” God already knew what had happened. This precious communion between God and man was now changed.

When we receive Jesus and all that he restored on the cross, we restore the ability to walk with God in the garden. This communion with our Father is vital to our walk with Him. I find that my time spent talking with God is vital to knowing Him, to my understanding of what He has for my life, and for the success of me doing what He has for me to do. It’s when we stop talking to God that we error in our path.

God always talks to His children. Sometimes His children hide. Learn to grow in your relationship with Him. Jesus restored the ability for you to have access to the Father, take advantage of it. Walk with God, learn His ways.

My you walk with God in the cool of the day!

Blessings,

Pastor Belinda🌷
