When My Strength Is Gone, His Remains

“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV)

There are times we feel we can't win the battle. Yet it is often in those very moments that Jesus draws nearest. This is when the comforter comes and ignites the fire inside of us to stand! To hold the line of battle.

The Greek word for strength in this passage is dynamis (δύναμις), meaning power, might, or miraculous ability. God does not merely encourage us from a distance—He imparts His own power to sustain us. When our human strength fails, His divine strength begins to shine through.

Israel felt defeat when Goliath was roaring threats but then there came a David who knew the strength of His God! Not his might, but God's might!

We may grow tired in the battle but Jesus invites us to come to Him when we are tired. He said,

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

Like a loving shepherd who lifts a weary lamb onto His shoulders, Jesus carries His children when they no longer have the strength to walk or fight. He does not scold us for being weak. Instead, He surrounds us with His grace, lifts our weary hearts, and faithfully carries us through every valley.

If you feel exhausted, discouraged, or overwhelmed, don’t be ashamed of your weakness. Place it into the hands of Jesus. Maybe your facing medical situations that are scary. They are not bigger than our Jesus! He can handle it. His strength never fails, His grace never runs dry, and His love will never let you go. Lean on Him. Let Him carry you for awhile.

Let me pray with you.

Lord Jesus, Thank You that Your grace is enough for me. Carry me when I am too weak, strengthen me by Your Spirit, and remind me that I never face life’s battles alone. I trust You to lead me one step at a time until I stand in victory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
