“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve… but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” — Joshua 24:15 (KJV)

There is a powerful declaration in this passage—not just for a family dwelling, but for the inner house of your life.

Your life is now a sanctuary. You have been cleaned out and now you must keep it filled with the Holy Spirit.

1. You want your house filled.

When you gave your life to Christ, your “house” was filled with His presence. All demons had to leave. Jesus became the occupant.

In the New Testament, the word for temple is ναός (naos)—meaning the inner sanctuary, the most sacred place where God dwells. This is not an outer court experience; this is God living within you. It is vital that you keep this space full of Jesus. Having come thru deliverance the demons will return at a later time to check if the space is still full of Jesus or have you opened the door back up to allow them to return. They will bring those worse then they were and you will be in worse shape than when you started. Matthew 12:44-45 “Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.

45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.” For this reason I won’t do deliverance on a person that is not committed to “keeping the house full of Jesus”.

Your deliverance emptied you and now you are inhabited by Him.

What was once void, broken, or occupied by darkness has now been filled with the fullness of Christ.

Where there was fear, now there is peace.

Where there was bondage, now there is freedom.

You are no longer just a person—you are a dwelling place of God. That is something precious and very valuable.

2. A House Guarded

A filled house must also be a guarded house.

In the Old Testament, the word “keep” or “guard” often comes from the Hebrew שָׁמַר (shamar), meaning to watch over, protect, hedge about, and preserve.

God does not just fill you—He guards what He fills.

His Spirit stands watch over your heart, your mind, and your soul. But you are also called to agree with that guarding:

• Guard what you allow in your thoughts

• Guard what influences your spirit

• Guard the atmosphere of your life

The enemy may knock—but he no longer has access unless you open the door. I have watched people who have gone thru deliverance grow slack and they opened a small door just to a little thing something God had delivered them from. As they opened the small door it wasn’t long before they were right back in the full bondage God had brought them out of. It all came back worse than before.

3. A House Marked and Dedicate

Joshua declared, “As for me and my house…”—this was not casual language. It was covenant language.

In Hebrew, a house (בַּיִת – bayith) represents not just a building, but a family line, identity, and legacy.

Your life is now:

• Marked by the blood of Jesus

• Set apart (Hebrew: קָדוֹשׁ – qadosh, meaning holy, consecrated)

• Dedicated with intention

This means your life is no longer neutral ground—it is claimed territory.

Joshua’s statement was a line drawn in the sand:

“We will serve the Lord.”

The word “serve” comes from Hebrew עָבַד (avad), meaning to labor, worship, and give oneself in devotion. This is not just belief—it is devotion expressed through daily living.

Your life is no longer what it used to be.

It is:

• Filled with the presence of Jesus

• Guarded by the Spirit of God

• Dedicated for His purpose

What was once dark is now holy ground.

Make it a daily declaration that as for me and my house. We will serve the Lord. No looking back. No opening doors that have been closed. No letting go of the transformation that God has done in your life.

Let me pray with you.

Jesus, keep us whole in you. Help us to guard our daily decisions that even the smallest will be made with You in mind. We thank you for our deliverance. We praise you because you have saved us and filled us with Your presence! Thank you Lord! In Jesus name! Amen!
