“Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at that time.” Judges 4:4
The story of Deborah is found in only two chapters in the book of Judges. Yet this remarkable woman of God left a powerful Testament for future generations to draw from. First, she was the prophetess of the Lord. The Hebrew word for prophetess is nebiah. This is the feminine version of the Hebrew word “nabiy”, which means prophet. This is only the second time this word was used in the Old Testament, the first being Exodus chapter fifteen. Second, she was the judge (shaphat) in Israel. There was a convergence of two anointings in her spirit. Before there were kings, there were judges and they carried a high anointing. Also, she was the nebiah (prophetess) of God. To this day there are convergences. Pastors who are prophets, Apostles who are pastors, and so on. When these convergences take place, it can be like a lion🦁 and an eagle 🦅 living in the same body. Deborah no doubt protected herself with a cloak of humility so that she was not swallowed up within her own anointing. When defining herself in Chapter five of the book of judges she simply said, “I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.“
This mighty woman of God’s crowning identity was that of a mother. 🤔 Be carful that you are not swallowed up in titles and the need for recognition. God ALWAYS resist the proud but gives grace to the humble. Time and again I’ve watched title seekers washed away in the tide and passed over for promotion from the Lord, because they sought man’s recognition, Trading true authority for recognition. Time and again Jesus says, “You have your reward!” Matt. 6:2.
