How to Experience God's Presence Part 10

This is part 10 of How to Experience God's Presence. It's also the last for this series. I hope you have enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed writing them. This last part addresses how "Reverence and the Fear of the Lord" will bring us into a place where we can experience the God's presence. I can hear some people say "Fear? We don't fear Him. God is like our best buddy, our friend." He can be a friend but never forget He is a God. He is holy.

God’s presence is never casual. When we truly recognize who God is, our hearts are filled with awe, honor, and deep respect for His holiness and greatness.

Psalm 89:7 KJV says, “God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.”

The fear of the Lord is not a fear that drives us away from God—it is a holy awe that draws us closer to Him with humility and honor. When we reverence God, we become aware that we are standing in the presence of Someone far greater than ourselves.

Hebrews 12:28 KJV says, “…let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.”

There is something about reverence that positions our hearts to experience His presence. We stop treating holy things as ordinary. We quiet our hearts, humble ourselves, and recognize that His presence is sacred.

When the church gathers with genuine reverence and godly fear, our focus shifts from what we want to what He deserves. Reverence prepares the heart to recognize His presence.

Lord, give us a holy fear of You. Teach us to honor Your presence, treasure Your holiness, and never become casual with Your glory. Let our hearts be positioned to encounter You.
