NUMBERS AND COLORS IN DREAMS - PART 3

“He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.” — Daniel 2:22 KJV

Numbers and colors can sometimes carry symbolic significance in Scripture.

There is no biblical dictionary that says every number or color always means exactly one thing.

The meaning must be determined by context, Scripture, and the Holy Spirit’s guidance. We must always ask the Lord for interpretation and then listen to what the Holy Spirit reviles. Don't be dead set that you are 100% accurate every time. It's when we believe we can never miss it, that the caution that causes us include safe guards falls away and guess what, we miss it! Lean on the Lord and be open to correction and guidance. Thats the safety net we need.

Here are just some meanings to numbers in scripture that give us a guide.

BIBLICAL NUMBERS

ONE — Unity

One can represent singularity or unity.

“One Lord, one faith, one baptism.” — Ephesians 4:5

TWO — Witness or Confirmation

Jesus sent His disciples “two and two” (Mark 6:7).

Deuteronomy 19:15 establishes the principle of two or three witnesses.

Two can therefore suggest witness, agreement, or confirmation—but context matters.

THREE — Resurrection / Divine Emphasis

Jesus rose on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:4).

Peter’s vision in Acts 10 was repeated three times.

Three can therefore carry themes of resurrection, completeness, or emphasis.

FOUR — Creation / Earth

Scripture speaks of the “four corners of the earth” (Revelation 7:1).

Four may sometimes be associated with the earth or creation.

FIVE — Grace

Five is sometimes associated by Christian teachers with grace, but Scripture does not establish a rule that five always means grace.

This is an important principle:

Biblical association is not the same as biblical definition. We must have discernment working along with our interpretation.

SEVEN — Completion / Fulness

Seven appears repeatedly throughout Scripture.

God completed creation in six days and rested on the seventh (Genesis 2:2).

Revelation contains numerous groups of seven:

* Seven churches

* Seven spirits

* Seven seals

* Seven trumpets

* Seven bowls

Seven frequently communicates completion or fullness.

TWELVE — Government / God’s People

There were twelve tribes of Israel.

Jesus chose twelve apostles.

Twelve can therefore be associated with God’s people and divine governmental order.

FORTY — Testing / Preparation

Israel spent forty years in the wilderness.

Moses spent forty days on the mountain.

Jesus fasted forty days in the wilderness.

Forty can therefore be associated with testing, preparation, or transition.

This is just a few numbers in scripture to show you. There are some great teachers out there on dream interpretation. John Paul Jackson was one of the best I ever heard. He has passed on to Heaven but his teachings are still available. If you tend to have dreams I would definitely look his teachings up.

Colors in our dreams also have meaning. Let's look at some of the meanings in scripture.

COLORS SCRIPTURE

Colors can also be symbolic, but again, context is essential.

WHITE

White is associated with purity, righteousness, holiness, and victory.

“They shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.” — Revelation 3:4

RED / SCARLET

Red or scarlet can be associated with blood, sacrifice, sin, or warfare depending on context.

Isaiah 1:18 says: “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.”

BLUE

Blue appears prominently in the tabernacle.

Exodus 26:1 describes curtains of “fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet.”

Blue may remind us of heavenly things because of its biblical association with the tabernacle and priestly worship. It's also associated with visitation.

PURPLE

Purple was associated with royalty and dignity.

Jesus was clothed in purple in Mark 15:17 as part of the mockery surrounding His crucifixion.

Purple can therefore suggest royalty, authority, or kingship depending on context.

GOLD

Gold frequently appears in connection with the tabernacle and things dedicated to God.

It can suggest glory, value, purity, or that which is precious.

BLACK

Black can represent darkness, mourning, judgment, or famine in certain biblical contexts.

But it should not automatically be interpreted negatively in every dream.

THE MOST IMPORTANT PRINCIPLE:

Don’t build an interpretation by saying: “I saw blue, therefore blue always means this.”

Instead ask:

“Lord, why did You show me blue in THIS dream?”

The same symbol can have different meanings in different circumstances.

For example, a lion in Scripture can represent Christ:

“the Lion of the tribe of Juda” — Revelation 5:5

But another lion represents Satan:

“your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion” — 1 Peter 5:8

The symbol itself does not determine the interpretation.

Context does. So always be open to the Lord and Holy Spirit when interpreting dreams.

If you don't have dreams let's ask Jesus to open up your eye gate. The Lord wants to talk to his children, we just have to learn how to listen. 😊 Also, if you are a dreamer keep your eye gate clean. If you allow ungodly things to enter your dreams will suffer. Your discernment will become off. Protect your pathways of communication. Let's pray:

Father, teach me not to depend upon formulas or human traditions. Give me biblical understanding and spiritual discernment. Help me recognize the significance of numbers, colors, and symbols only as You reveal them, and keep me anchored in Your Word. Amen.
