On Earth as it is in Heaven

“And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

Give us day by day our daily bread.

And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.” Luke 11:2-4 KJV

The disciples asked Jesus to “teach them to pray.”

So Jesus gave them the model prayer. A template on prayer to emulate within the framework of your own prayer life. This prayer covers many important bases that are to be incorporated into your prayer.

1. Jesus gives knowledge that God is YOUR Father. That you are His son or daughter. This is huge and it was paradigm shifting to the Jews understanding of YHWH! That He was indeed their Father, they are not orphans. This confession will kill the orphan spirit that Satan has sown into us.

2. You are to “sanctify” His name… learn the principle of blessing the name of the Lord, BEFORE petition or request. Thank Him in advance. He said, “Even before they call, I will answer, and while they are still speaking, I will hear.” Isa. 65:64. Bless the Lord oh my soul.

3. You are to be in agreement that his kingdom is to come…and that His will be done. As a matter of fact we are to help facilitate this “on earth as it is in heaven.” Now there seems to be a conspiracy to remove this latter phrase, “on earth as it is in heaven!” Many modern translations omit this phrase “on earth as it is in heaven. 🤔 This is due to the fact that different translations use different Greek text as their source material. What is disingenuousness is that every translation includes the phrase "on earth as it is in heaven” in Mathew’s version of the Lord’s Prayer. (Matt. 6:10). So why wouldn’t translators be consistent knowing that many Greek manuscripts include this phrase in Luke’s gospel. 🤔 We are to agree that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven. This helps the believer take a lot of ambiguity out of his own prayer life. By learning this concept you can pray with confidence concerning the will of God. If it is not His will in the heavenly realm then why would it be His Will here. If you don’t believe there is cancer in heaven then you can address it as an unjust action that is foreign to the purpose of God. It has unjustly trespassed and invaded the body of a loved one. “On earth as it is in heaven” becomes the battle cry of the righteous. We are to partner with heaven on bringing about His Will on earth as it is in heaven. How is His Will performed in Heaven? PERFECTLY! You may or may not get the results you desire in prayer but don’t hobble yourself coming out of the gate by not knowing what the will of Gods is in a matter. “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
