Teach Us To Pray

“Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” Lk. 11:1

The disciples were coming from a religious paradigm and they were looking at a wholly spiritual paradigm in Jesus. Jesus functioned in prayer, even as the Son of God, he prayed. He functioned in prayer, but not like the Pharisees or the Sadducees. His prayer carried the intimacy of the Father and Son paradigm. The disciples weren’t above wanting to know who was the greatest and the spiritual pecking order amongst themselves. They were prone to ask misguided questions and allow self ambitions to come to the forefront. But in this moment one of them got it right. (Even a blind squirrel 🐿 can find a nut every now and then)🤔. The disciple requested, “Lord, Teach us to pray.”

The Jesus taught the model prayer. Without realizing it they struck the nerve center of all Christendom. The true power structure of the Kingdom of God. Modern Christendom has relied heavily on teaching and learning authority and avoided the one singular action that moves you into authority. Is it possible to understand authority without functioning in authority? The modern church has proved it to be so. The question without a doubt has been asked in every religious institution on the planet. But it’s like asking a barista at Starbucks on how to be a Navy Seal. Prayerless religious institutions are incapable of teaching you how to pray. Go to the source and ask Him to teach you how to pray. Don’t ask a biker how to make cookies… ask a grandma who has actually made cookies on how to make them! Go To The Source and say, “Teach us to pray.” If you can excel at one thing in your Christian experience in this season…🤔 excel in prayer. If you can increase in one activity in this new year increase in prayer.

“Holy Father, send and increase in prayer amongst your people. Cause incense to rise! May we find the altar of incense within and burn 🔥 day and night. In Jesus name… Amen!”
