The Weight of Unforgiveness

“For if you forgive other people for their offenses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive other people, then your Father will not forgive your offenses.” — Matthew 6:14–15, NASB

Unforgiveness is a heavy burden that keeps us tied to the past. Forgiving doesn’t excuse the wrong but frees us from the chain it creates. God calls us to release others so that we can walk freely in His grace. It is huge when a person decides to release those they have held captive. All the wrongs they have experienced melt as grace and peace comes in. I don’t know of any other way that a person can be so transformed! It’s thru His blood that freedom has been made available!

Let’s ask the Lord for help with our transformation from broken to whole.

Father, I choose to forgive as You have forgiven me. Help me release those who have wronged me and help me to walk in freedom. Lord as you give me grace help me to replace hate and bitterness with forgiveness as only you can do! Amen!
