What spirit are you of?

“But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of.” Luke 9:55

I was surprised to find some English translations do not include the phrase, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of”. 🤔 It is not a controversial phrase and it is spot on when defining many in the Christian faith. They do not know what spirit they are of. Many Pentecostals function outside the golden rule. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Matt. 7:12.

They need a Miranda Rights label on them that says “Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of Opinion.” When you start dealing with people without the same GRACE you yourself have received, you don’t know what spirit ye are of. When you truly have received grace it allows you to deal with others graciously.🤔 “Then they sent to Him some of the Pharisees and the Herodians, to catch Him in His words.” Mark 12:13. This classic passage shows religion at its finest. Ungracious spirits at work. When your religious exercise simply evolves into hoping to catch someone at their words is the manifestation of a pharisaical “spirit” and you know not what spirit ye are of. 🤔 “Holy Father, deliver us from ourselves.

“For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God.” Eph. 2:8. If you have received grace? Function in grace! 🧐 When you stop being gracious… you don’t know what spirit ye are of.🤔 Amen! Pastor Rusty
