Worship from the Heart

For the past few days I have unknowingly caught myself just humming and singing praise to the Lord out loud. Not realizing I am doing it until I find myself standing by someone in the store and realize I am doing it out loud! It has made for a fun past few days! When you let the flow of His spirit over take you it becomes natural to let it out!

The scripture says:

“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

— John 4:24 NASB

Worship flows from a heart aligned with God, filled with love, gratitude, and reverence.

God desires more than lip service; He desires connection. He desires that our worship come from sincerity, from a heart that longs for Him above all else.

King David understood this when he wrote, “Create in me a clean heart, God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10 NASB). He knew that worship flows from the condition of the heart. A clean, humble, and devoted heart produces worship that pleases the Lord. I have been asking for more! I have asked Him to make me a usable vessel. I don’t want to just carry the name, I want to be the name! I want to be Jesus flowing out of me to help heal others!

Worshiping in “spirit and truth” means bringing our whole selves—our emotions, will, and thoughts—before God, with honesty. It is surrendering our pride, our distractions, and our self-dependence, so that we can lift our voices and lives in praise to the One who deserves it all.

When our worship comes from the heart, it transcends music, buildings, and traditions. It becomes a lifestyle—an offering of love to God in everything we do.

Let’s pray,

Lord, do a work in us that we become more like you! Fill us up to over flowing! Let us leak the transforming power of Jesus everywhere we go! If we don’t have a hunger for you then make a hunger in us! In Jesus powerful name! Amen!
